National Night OutNational Night Out is celebrated nationally on the first Tuesday of August. This celebration is a way for neighbors to work with law enforcement to address crime issues in their neighborhood. Due to the Ozark Empire Fair and Park Days being held the first week in August, Springfield Missouri has chosen to celebrate this event the Friday before school begins. This year National Night Out was held in neighborhoods all across Springfield on Friday, August 19, 2005. Our celebration was held at Grant Beach Park from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Activities will included, sprinkler hose, games for the kids, a potluck dinner, (meat and drinks was provided) tie-dying T-shirts (T-shirts for tie-dying were supplied by T. J. Sales Co., THANK YOU), music, karaoke, various law enforcement, National Guard vehicles, Bingo, crafts, prizes AND LOTS OF OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS! People brought lawn chairs and smiles.... Lots of snapshots were taken. Enjoy.. The Grant Beach Neighborhood Betterment Association is a group of citizens working together to maintain and improve the quality of living in our area. We meet monthly on a regular basis to address neighborhood concerns, and encourage residents to start smaller neighborhood watch groups in their block. We believe that people should actively participate as citizens in a democracy and as neighbors in in a community. We are a group of citizens interested in working together to maintain and improve the living quality of our neighborhood, motivate the city to address our concerns, be a spawning ground for neighborhood watch programs and build a sense of community among us. Working together, there is little that cannot be done, working apart there is little that can be done. Mission Statement: "Improving the quality of life in our neighborhood" This website is simply a tool we use to help keep our neighbors connected to each other, to their neighborhood and to their great City of Springfield, Missouri.
