Twelve Drummers Drumming
Traditional - The twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle's Creed: I
believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in
Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy
Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he
rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the
Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the
Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness
of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Modern - I believe in the common decency of people. I believe that people
can create a Heaven on Earth. I believe in family. The family is born of love
and together is powerful. We suffer in life and death. We have the power to
conquer life's suffering. We will be lifted to a higher level of self. Our
generosity of self will make us and others happy. We will face many judges in
our lives and become stronger for it. I believe in people, community, leaders,
forgiveness, being reborn and life.
You do not have to be of the Catholic faith to find the meaning of this
message. If you believe in God or A God, then the traditional message will have
true meaning for you. If you do not believe in God or A God, then the modern
message will have true meaning for you.
What is the message? Respect yourself and other people in your mind and
actions. Remember those who have died for your protection freedom and hope.
Learn from generous souls around you and try to teach others the same by setting
a good example.
