Baby Bunny For EasterIt’s that time of year again, and real live bunnies will be on their way into many homes in America this April 16—courtesy of well-meaning parents who think they’re buying a low-maintenance starter pet for the kids. If you or someone you know is set on getting a rabbit, please read this first! Sadly live baby bunnies and children aren't always a good mix. When the novelty wears off many of these Easter rabbits will end up in shelters. Sadly many are even more unlucky. They get dumped somewhere outside. This is really sad as they have not been taught to hide or where or how to hide from predators. They don't know how to avoid the many dangers that are sure to befall them. Many of those fall to illness or injury. They simply do not know how to live in the wild. So if you buy a cute little live Easter Bunny for your child and later "set it free". What you are really are more than likely doing is killing that bunny in a tragic way, just where you don't have to watch it. how sad for that sweet little Easter rabbit. Still others are destined then to live out their lives in a cramped little cage way to small for the bunny to enjoy life. I have watched friends whose kids have the Easter bunnies in tiny cages in their rooms. Moms yelling at kids because they discover the bunny hasn't been fed or watered in a few days. How very very sad. Why not consider a chocolate bunny or a stuffed bunny instead. If after the holiday they are still begging for a bunny then consider contacting your local animal shelters and adopting one from there. Then before you get one for the child have them do a project and present to you their findings on the proper long term care for a bunny. Have the child present to you a plan of housing and caring for the bunny. If the child is willing to put a lot of thought and effort into this project they may truly learn how to give that bunny a good life. Here is a site about Easter
Rabbit Care You can also spread he word that live rabbits are not disposable pets by getting involved in the "Make Mine Chocolate" campaign. Each year, unwanted, former Easter rabbits fill local rabbit rescues and humane societies. The goal of the “Make Mine Chocolate!™” campaign is to break the cycle of acquisition and relinquishment by educating the public about the responsibilities involved in keeping a companion rabbit before a rabbit is brought home If you decided you are getting a live Easter Rabbit or baby Easter bunny then please do a little research and plan something better for your bunny than a cramped little cage. What a BORING
SAD LIFE!!
Again I recommend you visit this
website link and do some reading.

The Grant Beach Neighborhood Betterment Association is a group of citizens working together to maintain and improve the quality of living in our area. We meet monthly on a regular basis to address neighborhood concerns, and encourage residents to start smaller neighborhood watch groups in their block. We believe that people should actively participate as citizens in a democracy and as neighbors in in a community. We are a group of citizens interested in working together to maintain and improve the living quality of our neighborhood, motivate the city to address our concerns, be a spawning ground for neighborhood watch programs and build a sense of community among us. Working together, there is little that cannot be done, working apart there is little that can be done. Mission Statement: "Improving the quality of life in our neighborhood" This website is simply a tool we use to help keep our neighbors connected to each other, to their neighborhood and to their City of Springfield, Missouri.
