Grant Beach Neighborhood Youth Soccer In Grant Beach Park

The 2008 Grant Beach Neighborhood Soccer League was such a success that another one is being planned for the summer of 2009. Watch this page for more information, as we will post it here when the plans are finalized with dates etc.

The Grant Beach Soccer League began Saturday October 4th, 2008.

We had 303 kids signed up to play which made a total of 25 children's youth soccer teams.

Special thanks to the Springfield Greene County Park Board for helping organize this league and their willingness to partner with GBNA, Lakes Country Soccer for their help with equipment and providing the kids and coaches clinics, Caring Communities for their help with recruitment, (at 14 elementary schools), the coaches who have stepped up to make this a fun opportunity for our kids, William and Angela Tolbert for presenting the idea of a soccer league, recruiting coaches, players and equipment, and to Anita Kuhns who has fielded numerous phone calls from coaches, players, and parents. A complete list of sponsors will be included in the November newsletter.

An end of year cookout and celebration was held for November 15, 2008, the Saturday of the last game.

GBNA was able to co-sponsor the league by providing t-shirts through the Neighborhood Improvement (Railroad) Money provided by the City of Springfield.

Even if you don't have kids playing soccer, we encourage you to come out and cheer on the kids this year. Over 75 players attend Weaver Elementary, so let's show them our devoted neighborhood support!
