Popsicle Scarecrow, Thanksgiving Crafting Idea

Materials Needed:

3 Popsicle Sticks
Scrap Material or Felt
Tacky Glue
Yarn (Tan, Brown, or Yellow)
Markers

Instructions:
Glue two popsicle sticks together to form a cross shape (see figure 1). With an adult's help, cut the other popsicle shape in half and glue them onto the bottom of your popsicle stick cross at an angle (see figure 2). This will form the base of your scarecrow body.

Cut several pieces of the yarn about 1 inch long. Glue the yarn onto the ends of the popsicle sticks (figure 3). These will be the scarecrow's arms and legs.

Now, use the scrap material or felt to cut out a shirt and pants for your scarecrow and glue them on (figures 4 and 5).

Use more yarn to glue on hair for your scarecrow just above the midpoint of the popsicle stick on top (figure 6). Use a marker to make eyes, nose, and a mouth (figure 7).

For the finishing touches, cut a small hat shape out of the fabric or felt and glue it in place (figure 8). You can also cut out a few tiny scares from different fabric to make patches for your scarecrow's pants. Voila!

Once your scarecrow is complete, you can add a magnet strip to his back and hang him on the fridge, or you can glue an extra popsicle stick between his legs and stick him in a plant! You can also buy a small grapevine wreath and attach him to

The Grant Beach Neighborhood Betterment Association is a group of citizens working together to maintain and improve the quality of living in our area. We meet monthly on a regular basis to address neighborhood concerns, and encourage residents to start smaller neighborhood watch groups in their block. We believe that people should actively participate as citizens in a democracy and as neighbors in in a community. We are a group of citizens interested in working together to maintain and improve the living quality of our neighborhood, motivate the city to address our concerns, be a spawning ground for neighborhood watch programs and build a sense of community among us. Working together, there is little that cannot be done, working apart there is little that can be done.

Mission Statement: "Improving the quality of life in our neighborhood"

This website is simply a tool we use to help keep our neighbors connected to each other, to their neighborhood and to their City of Springfield, Missouri. Please consider attending the monthly meeting. Potluck Dinner for the whole family and Free child care for the meeting
